WINE OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER
Cloudy Bay Pelorus NV Brut
During September we are very happy to offer you this fabulous deal on one of the very best 'Methodes' produced in NZ. The white label version of Pelorus is Chardonnay dominated and is very clean and crisp on the palate. The nose is freshly baked brioche and creme brulee while the moose shows delicate beads that reveal juniper spice with hints of nectarine on a clean, long finish. This is exceptional value and a 'no-brainer' is you're keen on good bubbly.
RRP $37.50. Our special offer in Sept only $28.50/btl (25% off)

Avanti Shiraz-Malbec 2008
We're declaring this wine the best 'bargain buy' of 2009 if you're into stunning quality for no money at all. Blind tasted on a regular 'red man' in the shop it was picked for a $40btl which didn't surprise at all. It's from Argentina, is very lively with lots of character and best of all, you just want to keep drinking it which is the test of any quaffer. If you're sceptical (and I would be), come into the shop and test it for yourself.
RRP $12.50/btl. Our special price to you is only $11.25/btl.

Lurton Pinot Gris 2008
Land of Fire has run out and the distributor says 'that's it, no more.' This is the 'Gris' that is the level above with more concentration and finesse and it usually sell's for $6+/btl more. It's very good and like Land Of Fire also made by Lurton but we are selling it for the same price as Land Of Fire which makes it an absolute bargain. Yes, NZ pinot gris has made huge progress in the past few years but 'you pay' for a good one, and in the case of Lurton Pinot Gris 'you pay half' for the same quality. Personally, you shouldn't care if it's not NZ because good wine comes from all over the world and this Argentinian beauty is a winner.
RRP $21/btl. Our special price to you a ridiculous $14.90/btl.

Jaboulet Parallele 45 Cotes-du-Rhdone 2006
Cotes-du-Rhone offers some of the best value red wine drinking in the world and we think this wine particularly belongs to that category. The 2006 is a very good vintage made from 25-year-old vines from 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah grapes grown and vinified within two kilometres of the 45th parallel in the Rhone Valley. The wine has lovely balance; black cherry, dried figs and nutmeg dominate the bouquet while the palate is a seamless integration of the bouquet with additional hints of cigar box, spice and pomegranate. The finish goes on forever, especially considering the wine's price.
RRP $25.50. Our price to you is just $21.20/btl

Brookfield Hawkes Bay Bergman Chardonnay 2008
Here's a chardonnay that hits the bullseye for anyone looking for the character of butterscotch combined with a great price. Brookfields is making excellent quality, lower priced wines such as this and their Burn Foot Merlot which we also have in stock for well under $20. The Bergman Chardonnay is 100% barrel fermented and is rounded off with a good portion of secondary malolactic fermentation to soften the acid. Stunning value.
RRP $19.50. Our special price to you only $15.90

Mont-Redon Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2005
Silky on the palate with elegance and finesse are the overriding features of this well-made Chateauneuf. This is a carefully blended, hand-crafted wine made from hand-picked and selected grapes - 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Cinsault 10%, 5% Mouvedre and 5% others. The nose is a spectacular effusion of red fruits dominated by plums and dark berries while on the palate the wine has a roundness and vinosity that causes it to drape from the tongue rather than fall, all integrated into a lingering, fine tannin finish that leaves you profoundly impressed.
RRP $75. Our special price to you only $67.50.

Camshorn Domott Clays Pinot Noir 2007
This is the wine Brian thought was "best value for money" at our recent Waipara vs Central Otago Pinot Noir Challenge. In a word it can best be described as 'funky' with the most amazing complex, lifted bouquet of cherries, dried herbs, clove spice and some barnyard corruption all rolled into one. On the palate the wine exudes its own special character; very generous, good intensity and a long finish. Perfect for a dish of wild boar, guinea fowl or something else gamey. All in all, a very good bottle of wine at an affordable price.
RRP $39.50/btl. Our special price this Sept is only $32.90
