Prunotto is a high class Italian wine producer that you may have heard of? We have some stunning new wines arriving at Hemingway this month including a very good range of Prunotto (read further down) from Italy which are very affordable from just $23. The point about having wines from producers such as Prunotto is that the wines are of a quality that tend to make you savour them rather than quaff them. Therefore, they go further with a single bottle capable of delivering a better experience for more people (less is more). This type of wine is the best value! On the other hand, a cheap bottle from the supermarket or anywhere else that has been selected on price alone that offers none if the ingredients that constitutes anything that resembles wine quality, is simply money wasted - unless the alcohol content is the prime objective of purchase. Have a good wine savouring week!

Muriel Oak Aged Seleccion Ridgy 2008
Good Rioja for under $20 isn't that easy to find but this one certainly fits the bill - it was one of our star wines at our recent 'best under $20 wines' tasting. It has stunning red berry fruit characters more in a new-world style but the wine also retains the traditional Rioja finesse and elegance. Muriel is a class producer; this is their entry level wine and for the price brings new meaning to 'value buying.'
RRP is $26/btl. Our special price only $19.90/btl

Bellbird Spring 'Home Block' White 2008
Bellbird Spring wines have been selling really well, particularly over the past month and it seems apparent that this boutique producer is quickly gaining a following with its high quality releases. I'm not at all surprised as their Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and this 'Home Block' blend of four grape varieties has exceptional qualities. This was our 'White Wines of the Year' more than a year ago and there are just a few cases left. Be in quick to enjoy the experience.
RRP is $29.90/btl. Our special price only $26.90/btl

Rivetto Ercolino Dolcetto d'Alba 2007
Italy has so many wines we are continually making new discoveries - and this is one of them. Dolcetto is a grape variety hardly seen outside Italy and if you haven't tried it, now's your chance with this quality bottle. It has very generous fuit concentration and fills the palate with loads of complex red fruit characters while retaining a serious structure that will keep it drinking well for some years. This is a wine with 'WOW factor' and I thought excellent buying at the price
RRP $32.50/btl. Our special price only $29/btl

Pyramid Valley Hemingway Cuvee 2007
Only 13 dozen bottles made of this 2nd release of the 'Hemingway Cuvee' and the wine is highly impressive. Very low cropped selected parcels of Riesling (70%) and Pinot Gris (30%) constitute the make-up while it spent no less than 2 and a half years on lees before release in February. Still very tight and needs a decanter or time in the glass or keep the bottle open in the fridge for a week - it will then reward you with a intrinsic complexity, balance and finesse that makes me want to drink it regularly. High class.
RRP $32.90. For you only $29.90 but 6-btl limit p.p.

.
Finca Sobreno Toro 2007
An old Tinta de Toro favourite returns with a new vintage and the wine is again impressive, especially considering the price. 100% Tempranillo grape used with old American oak gives this wine its typically Spanish bouquet and palate character. The wine is full and smooth and well balanced with good length and structure. Certainly a good buy at this price.
RRP $21.50/btl. Our special low price only $18.90

Rockface Pinot Gris 2008
Fruity - pear, peach and nectarine characters in an off-dry, easy drinking style that won't break the bank balance. Waipara isn't famous for its Pinot Gris but this and the Mount Brown have been pitched-in at bargain prices - the latter wine is made very much in a Alsatian style with lush, rich characters and is offered at the same price. Come in for a taste.
RRP is $19/btl. Now at the super price of just $14.90/btl

Prunotto Roero Arneis 2007
Just taken delivery of a very nice selection of Prunotto wines - 7 in total: Barberas, Barbarescos and Barolos, ranging in price from $23 to $110/btl. This one is 100% Arneis. Light yellow in colour with green reflexes. Intense flower and tropical fruit aroma. A good structure, well balanced with acidity. A perfect match with antipasti and all fish based dishes.
RRP $35.90/btl. Our super deal only $27.50/btl, Stocks limited

Claudia's Adventures in Pyramidland
Apologies if you're one of the dozen or so that missed out on our coach trip to Camshorn and Pyramid Valley, even after we increased the coach size from a 37 seater to 45. We were swamped with starters. A future trip is likely but have yet to decide a date or itinerary. Our Mad Hatter wine tasting in Pyramidland will not only feature the star wines of Pyramid Valley but also offer a 'prized bottle' for the hat selected as 'best' by Claudia. Don't forget to wear your hat and flat shoes. The long range forecast is for fine but bring something to keep you warm and dry - just in case.
