Monday 24th September is 'Steely Dan Monday' and we will have some fantastic specials in the shop for one day only. The first 3 wines shown below will be open for tasting. Come in to take advantage of 'Sale Price' bargains on the Monday Steely Dan is in town to do their stuff. If you have to ask what or who is Steely Dan then you're probably too young to know! As well, Tuesday night is the night we will have a small group of people at Mediterranean Foods (a change of venue) in the cafe to meet Cloudy Bay winemaker Eveline Fraser (see below). Why don't you come along!

Cloudy Bay winemaker Eveline Fraser is here on Tuesday to launch the 2007 savvy and show you the range

Cloudy Bay is NZ's most recognised name in wine around the world. Every year on 1st October the new Sauvignon Blanc is released and in 2007 we are privileged to be hosting the ChCh launch. Not only will we taste the new savvy but 8 Cloudy Bay wines will be tried with some extremely tasty finger food by Mediterranean Foods Chef Nick Mavromatis. We will be tasting Pelorus, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Late Harvest Riesling and 06 Savignon Blanc.

Now taking place at Mediterranean Foods, 322 Tuam Street at 6:00pm, Tuesday 25th October, 2007. Cost $20pp. Booking essential.

Tuesday, 25th September at 6.00pm

Montellori Chianti 2004

Vintage 2004 was a stunner in Tuscany and this inexpensive but highly drinkable DOCG wine is not only a bargain but exudes all the attractive features of the Sangiovese grape variety; spice, herbs and black cherries with savoury notes and just 12.5% alc/vol which all combined makes this one of my favourites

RRP is $18.90. Special Price this coming week: $16.90/btl or $198/cs

La Consulta Malbec 2005

Malbec does brilliantly in Argentina and this is exceptional value for money - rich and rounded with plum and cherry characters, full bodied and a soft, long, balanced finish. This is fantastic with the Cocoa Farm Shiraz Chocolate we have on the counter. A must at the price.

RRP $16.50/btl. Special price just $14.90 or $19.90 incl Chocolate

Clearview Estate Unwooded Chardonnay 2006

Hawkes Bay is undoubtedly the chardonnay capital of New Zealand and Clearview is one of the best producers. All of their chardonnays are excellent quality with the Unwooded 2006 vintage showing it's exceptional fruit quality with a French style minerality and good acid balance . Perfect for lots of seafood and white meat dishes.

RRP $22. Our price only $19.50/btl or just $230/cs

Champagne Lanvin & Fils NV

We're fast approaching the bubbly season and there's nothing like the 'Real McCoy' - Champagne. We stock what we think is the best non-champagne bubbly in Bouvet (France, $26.50) but for champers how about this one for the price. From the Champagne House of Charles de Cazanove comes Lanvin which boasts the finesse and elegance, smooth mousse and a biscuity creaminess that makes this a fabulous aperitif. It just so happens this one sticks out at the price - and it will soon be announced 5stars.

RRP $60. Our special price only $44.90/btl
