Easter is practically here and we are well into autumn with crisper, cooler nights and mornings. A good time to revise your drinking habits and try some good autumn wine selections; listed below are some you should definitely try. The Australian wine guru the late Len Evans used to say that every mediore or lesser wine you poured down your throat was one lost and one you could never catch up on - so true.

By law we are closed on Good Friday but will be here Saturday from 10am till 6pm so call on by and try some of the wines below we will have open. Easter Monday we will open at 2pm till 7pm. See you here and Happy Easter

Hans Herzog Chardonnay 2006

Just released under the the revised label of Hans Herzog (formerly just 'Herzog') the new 2006 Chardonnay emphasises this labels absolute commitment to high quality wines with this one a complex, rounded, concentrated chard with lots of layers of flavours and a long finish. Certainly one of the best in NZ and not expected to be about for long due to the small production. The Viognier has also just been released. Don't delay for these wines. Phone and secure some now.

Chardonnay: RRP $40 but your special offer $35.90
Viognier: RRP $43/btl, our price $38.50

Armantes Shiraz 2004

A fantastic shiraz normally $20 and now only on special for only $14.90.

Shiraz lovers normally think 'Australian' but this is unbeatable value, and it's from Spain. Forget Aussie Shiraz for a mo and try this and you won't be disappointed - we've beaten them 3 times at cricket recently so Aussie is temporarily out of fashion and we're talking Spain.

Chateau Lacroix Merlot Saignee Rose 2004

Stylish Rose from Bordeaux offer exceptionel value

This rose from Bordeaux (RRP $20) is an absolute stunner for just $14.90/btl. It's part of the Chateau Teyssier stable in St-Emilion and is a Saignee Merlot Rose which simply means it comes from the first free-run juice from the short prefermentation maceration and results in a wine with superior phenolics, concentration and texture. Brilliant drinking with lighter meals in late summer/autumn and a steal at this price.

Lonestone Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Quality savvy that's perfect for the numerous seafood dishes

There may be better savvys around but there isn't many. And at this price it would be hard to find anything that offers better value for money. Good savvy is about low cropping and fruit concentration and this wine had it all. It's dry with a nice balance between the fruit and acidity and we highly recommend it. Normal retail is $20 and this week we're doing it for $16.90/btl when you mention this offer.

Hermanos Lurton Rueda Bianco 2005

Delicious Spanish white made from 70% Verdejo and 30% Viura grapes

Your price is just $21.90

Pasqua Sagramoso Valpolicella Superiore 2003

Italian quaffer is the perfect wine with red sauce pasta

Chateau Monpensier 2005

Inexpensive French red is proving big hit with fans of Vin de Bordeaux

"This is addictive," one customer told me as she purchased another dozen bottles of this ridiculously cheap entry level bordeaux blend. Here is a wine that proves there are fantastic bargains still available in an 'everyday quaffer' and this one offers lots of character, structure and drinkability that makes it one of our best sellers. New stocks due to arrive Thursday. RRP is $15/btl. Your Price is just $13.40/btl or $155 case
