In Lewis Caroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" Alice falls down a rabbit hole while following the white rabbit. In our version called "Claudia's Adventures in Pyramidland, we will be following Claudia who follows the odd brown rabbit that sometimes ends up in the stew pot. I have been fortunate enough to have been in Pyramidland on such an occasion and I can vouch that the gamey rabbit is the perfect match for Pyramid Valley Pinot Noir. 

We are going on this wonderful tour 'Adventures of Claudia in Pyramidland' on Sunday, 11 April, the Sunday after Easter, and you can come with us if you want. We have a coach, two destinations, a chef to prepare lunch, the cheesemongers, and two wine tastings to get your taste buds salivating. Plus a rabbit to catch. Whoa! What a day it will be...

At 9.30am we leave Hemingway Fine Wines shop the corner of Durham Street North and Chester Street West and head for the Waipara Valley and Pyramid Valley, returning to Hemingway at 5pm

will be our hosts us at Pyramid Valley. There we will tour the vineyard, have a tasting and a Jonny Schwass lunch assisted by the Canterbury Cheesemongers, Martin and Sarah.


What a day we will have - the best of the best in wine, cheese and food. Limited to 37 people so please get in fast to avoid missing out.

 
 

Pyramid Valley Vineyards (biodynamic) is a 300 acre property with less than five acres planted in vines - the very best five acres on the property which is potentially some of the best wine growing land in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Pyramid Valley story is quite remarkable, just as remarkable as the place itself. You will thoroughly enjoy the experience - and the odd rabbit is sure to cross your path.



Camshorn


 At Camshorn Vineyard in the Waipara Valley we will stop for an hour and half on the way to witness a top working vineyard in the midst of a harvest, listen to the dulcet tones of the articulate Camshorn Manager Martin Tillard and then go on to

 
  taste the superb range of wines that Camshorn produce. Martin might even let us taste some ripe grapes ready for harvest. 

The expansive Waipara Valley from the slopes of Camshorn offers a wonderful panoramic view, looking in an north-westerly direction. In this shot, beyond the distant hills, a couple of valleys over is our lunchtime destination of Pyramid Valley.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
Lunch with Jonny

 One of New Zealand's very best chefs, Jonny Schwass, will not only be on the coach but will prepare the lunch at Pyramid Valley for our vineyard visitors. Restaurant Schwass in Ferry Road close to the old Lancaster Park (I refuse to call it anything else) is undeniably one of Christchurch's very best Restaurants (Top Three).

Jonny will prepare the lunch which won't be too shabby, to say the least. Jonny loves going to Pyramid Valley and can't wait to get back there.

off with some wonderful cheeses when we have our tasting at Pyramid Valley.
