Lone Goat Canterbury Riesling 2008
Tasted this wine for the first time last week and was blown away by the quality. Lone Goat is the old Giesen site at Burnham and the grapes used for this wine are from 25-year-old vines. This is a stunning wine for not much cost. The nose and palate are dominated by complex citrus characters with lime notes that develop in the mouth; the mineral acidity, balance and long clean finish belie the 15gms of residual sugar. The Giesen bro's made some outstanding rieslings over the years from this vineyard and the tradition is continued here
RRP $21.50/btl. Our special price to you only $19.35/btl

Joseph Drouhin Larforet Bougogne Pinot Noir 2007
French pinot noir doesn't have to be expensive and this wine proves it. Joseph Drouhin is a large negociant producer and exporter from Burgundy and their wines are worth getting in a good year like this one. Red berry fruit dominate the nose and palate and the wine has good weight and length of finish. Perhaps it's slightly more 'new world' in style that previous years but it shows the concentration and tannin structure that suggests it will keep for a few years. Highly recommended.
RRP $31.50. Our special price to you only $28.35

Lone Goat Late Harvest Riesling 2007 and
Lone Goat Botrytised Selection 2007
The Loan Goat range of wines are impressive including the 2008 Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc and these two dessert wines in 375ml bottles. The Late Harvest has 72g/l of RS and would be perfect with fruit as it shows apple/lime notes, is light with good balance and minerality with a crisp-clean finish. The Botrytised version is opulent, honeyed, apricoty and belies its variety of Muller Thurgau. It has 254g/l of RS but you wouldn't know it. Both are lovely wines for the right match.
Late Harvest (8%alc): RRP $18.50. Yours special price $16.65
Botrytised (8%alc): RRP $32.50. Your special price $29.25

Dino's Wine of the Week
Gecko Burnham School Road Pinot Noir 2006
Dino: "Lovely developed savoury notes on the nose - sundried tomatoes, smoked meats, black olives and a touch of forest floor lead to a silky core of ripe red fruits on the palate. Beautifully integrated tannins provide great mouthfeel with a persistent spicy finish. Cries out for roasted spring lamb spiked with rosemary and garlic
RRP $34.90/btl. Our special price to you only $31.40

And what's more each 750ml bottle comes in a gift 'ice jacket' to keep your champers chilled on a day out! A stunning gift!
RRP $93/btl. Our low price only $69.90Veuve/btl or $390/cs - 6-pk (save 30%)

Green Point Pinot Noir Rose 2007
Green Point is a Victorian winery that was established 23 years ago by Moet & Chandon. Their vineyard is located at Coldstream where they produce some excellent cool climate wines including this delicious Rose made from Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is fresh and crisp with good texture and spicy fruit characters that leaves a dry and clean finish. It's not too early in the season for Rose (we have just had the warmest NZ August in 129 years) and the pleasure of this wine increases when you learn the price.
