Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2007 - save 25%
One of best pinot noirs out of Marlborough has consistently been Cloudy Bay and in a top vintage like 2007 the wine is exceptional. In a previous vintage blind tasting a few years ago Cloudy Bay came out on top, beating all the higher priced, higher profiled pinots from Central Otago, etc. So it's not surprising this wine is in the same vein as it's very carefully put together from low-cropped vines from mostly clay soils. The wine is wonderfully balanced between layers of dark fruit and savoury, dried herb characters, integrated subtle, charry oak and extended length with silky tannins. Great buying at this price.
RRP $53/btl, our 'knock-dead' price only $39.90/btl

Pyramid Valley Hemingway Cuvee 2007
Hemingway Cuvee from Pyramid Valley is a Mike & Claudia Weersing creation that we are privileged to have our name emblazoned on. This is a stunning blend of riesling and pinot gris which is presented as a biodynamic/organic, unfined, unfilitered and no preservative added wine that has been aged on lees for two and a half years - only 13 cases made although we're biased this is 'as good as it gets' to borrow from the Jack Nicholson vernacular. Needless to say, Pyramid Valley has set high standards for itself and this wine is in keeping with that philosophy.
RRP is a low $32.90/btl. You will pay only $28.90/btl

Domaine de Mourchon Tradition C-d-R Villages 2007
We can recall some really outstanding Cotes du Rhone in the last few years but this one would be hard to beat on all scores. This is a seriously high quality release that displays rich, concentrated notes of raspberries, blackberries and spice with complexity, balance and considerable length. Yet it still has a funky, old world side. Great to see a wine of this quality is still under $30 - made from 40year-old vines from Grenache, Syrah and Carginan. It speaks for itself.
Normal retail: $29.90, our good price only $26.90

Cape Campbell Limited Edition Reserve Chardonnay 2007
We thought this wine grossly under-valued at the price - pale gold in colour with a complex aroma displaying honeysuckle, rich tropical notes and subtle hazelnut. Full bodied with fruit flavours supported by underlying nutty spicy oak notes and subtle yeast autolysis characters. The palate is very full, elegant, and creamy with soft acidity that leads to a warm lingering finish. Excellent value.
RRP $21.50/btl, Our special low price is $19.30/btl

Tresillion Akaroa Rose 2009
Tresillion is making some outstanding wines and this rose is really a huge leap forward on the roses of a bygone area when the characters were either bubblegum, candy floss or both. Made from Merlot and Pinot Noir from Akaroa Harbour grapes, this wine displays lovely, fresh red fruit flavours, good minerality and is dry on the finish. It's certainly one of the better one's we've struck and what wine is better suited to the recent warm, sunny days than this. Only 12% alc/vol so it suits as a lunchtime parter to white meats and salads.
RRP $21.50, our price to you $19.30/btl

Gladstone Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Many 2008 savvys were less than memorable but here's one with lots of character and appeal. The nose is rockmelon, lime, lemon peel and nettles . On the palate it shows racy acidity and is round and soft with green apple and capsicum flavours dominant on a crisp finish. Drinking well now but will also keep in the cellar for a couple of years. Looking for something extra from your savvy then this is it. Highly recommended.
RRP $22.90/btl, Our special price only $19.90/btl
